Kaptanpasa Mosque was built in Square of Eyup Iskele in 1577 by Haci Mahmut Aga.
The square planned mosque and minaret are cut stone. Its wooden roof is lead-coated and is one of the rare examples of domed concealed construction systems. Baroque ornaments are available in and around the dome.
During the restoration process, the building walls and minaret were strengthened with extensive landscaping and the ablution building was added according to the historical features.
